PDO threads & focused ultrasound

Non-surgical lifting

For skin that has started to descend rather than deflate. Two different approaches, often suited to different people — one lifts mechanically and the other tightens by heating tissue under the surface.

Two ways to lift, and how to choose

PDO threads

Fine absorbable threads are placed under the skin and used to reposition tissue that has dropped. The lift is immediate and mechanical. The threads themselves dissolve over some months, but they leave collagen behind along the line they took, which is why the effect outlasts the material — typically twelve to eighteen months.

Threads suit skin with reasonable quality that has begun to descend. They are not a substitute for a surgical facelift, and where a facelift is what would actually help, you will be told that.

Thread treatments cannot be booked directly. A separate consultation is required first, to assess whether they suit you.

Focused ultrasound

Ultrasound energy is delivered to a set depth beneath the skin, heating tissue enough to prompt contraction and new collagen without breaking the surface. Nothing is inserted and there is no recovery period — most clients go straight back to their day.

It is gradual: the result develops over two to three months as collagen rebuilds. Most people need one session per area, some benefit from a second. It suits mild to moderate laxity, and it is the option to consider if needles are the objection.

Questions

Threads or ultrasound — which is right for me?

Broadly: threads reposition tissue that has dropped, ultrasound tightens tissue that has loosened. If the complaint is that something has moved, threads are more likely. If it is that things have softened, ultrasound is often enough. That distinction is easy to get wrong from photographs, which is why threads require an assessment first.

Is a thread lift the same as a facelift?

No. A thread lift is temporary, done under local anaesthetic, and lifts considerably less. It suits early laxity. Where the degree of descent really calls for surgery, threads will disappoint, and Leah would rather tell you that at consultation than after.

How long until I see the ultrasound result?

Two to three months, building gradually. Nothing dramatic happens on the day, which is worth knowing before you book — this is not a treatment for the week of an event.

Is there any downtime?

Focused ultrasound has none. Threads can leave tenderness, some swelling and occasional bruising for several days, and you will be asked to avoid certain movements and sleeping positions for a short period afterwards. Full aftercare instructions are given in writing.

Book a consultation, not a treatment

A €50 consultation is thirty minutes to look at your face, talk through what you actually want and hear what is realistic. If you go ahead with treatment within two weeks, the €50 comes off the price.
